NBA’s first and only South Korean player likely to debut in NBA 2K22 MyTeam mode

Ha Seung-jin, the first and only South Korean to play in the NBA, will likely make his NBA 2K22 debut Friday in the MyTeam Mode, a person close to Ha confirmed to the Goldutshop News.

Rumors of Ha’s debut kicked off Wednesday when NBA 2K YouTuber DBG shared screenshots of a news article from Gamemeca. The text was written in Korean. When translated, the text suggested that Ha would make his debut in the game.

Ha, a former Portland Trail Blazers star, currently streams videos on YouTube. Some of his content includes NBA 2K22 games.

So I decided to reach out to see if the rumor was true. Hyungjun Lim, who helps run the Ha YouTube channel, confirmed the card pack will debut in an email, signaling a true debut for the player in the game.

“A new card pack will be distributed on November 6th (Korean time),” he said.

NBA 2K’s MyTeam mode releases new digital player cards on Fridays.

Hyungjun also pointed to the article on Gamemeca, a video games news site from Korea, as an announcement for the forthcoming player.

So this means that the NBA’s first and only South Korean basketball player will make his debut in the NBA 2K22 MyTeam Mode, giving South Korean gamers some in-game representation for that mode.

Ha made his NBA debut in January 2005 after he was drafted in 2004. He played for the Portland Trail Blazers for two years, averaging 1.5 points per game and 1.5 rebounds per game.

The 7-foot-3 center was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in July 2006. He never played a game for the team.
